Scientists need to be able to communicate clearly when discussing plants. For this reason, they have developed a system of classifying plants. Scientists have a way of giving each plant a scientific name using two words. For example, scientists have named the plant we call the glacier lily, Erythronium grandiflorum.

At the Forestry Expo, you will have a chance to use a plant key to identify some plants found in this area. You will learn about plant parts as you use their traits to identify plants.
