This year the topic of the lunchtime demonstration for the students was mountain bike safety and etiquette when sharing trails with others.
A well maintained bike, a helmet plus other safety equipment, and water are among the requirements for a safe trip. Trail courtesy involves stepping to the side of the trail to let others pass. Do not spook a rider’s horse — wait off of the trail as they pass talking to the rider quietly.
The keys to sharing a trail with others is good communication and yielding the trail to other users if you are a bike rider.
